Patriot Set To Fly The Flag For Stuart In Stayers Series
2019 Group 1 Galaxy winner Rockstar Patriot is one of two Paul Stuart trained stayers aiming up at Friday night’s Mandurah Mail Stayers Series heats over the 647 metres.
The son of Fernando Bale and Glory Of Love has returned from a six month break in stunning form winning a City Grade 5 Sprint over the 520 metres in 30.17 seconds prior to runner-up performances over the 600 metres at Cannington in 35.13 seconds and 34.72 seconds.
At his fourth run back from a break on Friday night Trainer Stuart is confident his Group 1 winner can continue to progress.
“I have been rapt with his three runs back from such a long layoff and he is starting to get some race fitness back so the step up to 647 metres looks perfect.” Stuart said.
Rockstar Patriot has had success over the 647 metre circuit in the past at Mandurah and Stuart is hoping that experience over the trip stands him in good stead.
“He has won over the 647 metres at Mandurah in slick time and given not many of his opposition have raced yet at Mandurah over the distance it may prove an important advantage.” Stuart added.
Stuart also has former NSW chaser Blue Summer Sky drawn box six in the first of the heats.
The winner of 12 of 47 career starts is a son of regal producer Chica Destacada and has pleased Stuart since arriving in his kennel.
“He has only been here for a week and a bit but he has settled in really well and all going well he will be aiming up at the Galaxy in a few weeks time.”Stuart suggested.
Stuart’s other kennel star Miata goes around at Cannington on Saturday night after breaking the 520 metre track record in January.
“Campini is going as well as ever and I am really looking forward to the upcoming Perth Cup series with him.” Stuart said.
“He has a decent record from box 7 and with even luck on Saturday he should be tough to beat again. “ Stuart concluded.
