Perth Racing has long been an avid supporter of the local & wider community and February marks a signifigant time of refection for businesses and people who form part of it.
Over the coming weeks, Ascot Racecourse will hold two racedays that confirm Perth Racing’s commitment to the Community. Firstly, the annual Lunar Raceday will be staged on Saturday 13th February, in celebration of Chinese New Year. It will feature a colorful line-up of trackside entertainment including lion dancing, martial arts demonstrations, a traditional Chinese costume show, nine cultural performances with traditional Chinese elements, food and market stalls, a lantern display and a special appearance made by the General Consul of China.
Lunar raceday favourite; ‘Dumplings on the Deck’, will be available again for $75.00 pp including general admission, food service, drinks and entertainment. Restaurants on both levels of the Grandstand will also offer an Asian-inspired cuisine starting from $65.00 pp.
The Australian Chinese Times Stakes (race 8) represents good fortune, and to those in the know, coming early to grab one of 2,000 fortune cookies will be in their favour with prizes on offer to the lucky ones.
Perth Racing’s follow up community raceday is the WA Bush Fire Appeal set for Saturday 20th February. In collaboration with Community TAB, Nova 93.7, BBC Entertainment and The Lions Club of WA, the WA Bush Fire Appeal Raceday is dedicated to raise funds for those who were affected by the ravaging fires that hit the south west recently.
For the first 500 people on course, there will be a free BBQ, compliments of Ryan’s Quality Meats and Loafers Organic, as well as a drink provided by Diageo, Little Creatures (Lion) and Schweppes. And our friends at BBC Entertainment will be providing a fantastic array of oncourse entertainment for a relaxing day at the races.
By visiting and purchasing an admission ticket to Ascot Racecourse for the 20th February, Perth Racing will donate half of its admission revenue to The Lions Club of WA who’ll pass on 100% of the proceeds with Community TAB matching the Club’s contribution. There’ll be free entry for service personnel including SES, Police, Fire & Emergency Services and Defence Force upon presentation of their ID. Gates open at 9.00am with the first race at 12.13pm.
