Saturday’s Magic Millions meeting at Pinjarra has been given a tick of approval following a track inspection this afternoon.
The stand alone meeting, featuring the Magic Millions WA 2YO Classic and Magic Millions WA 3YO Trophy, was in jeopardy after Perth’s unseasonal weather had dumped 87mm on Pinjarra overnight.
But following an inspection by Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) stewards and Ryan Hill, a member of the Western Australian Jockey’s Association, the meeting will proceed as scheduled.
“Chris Brown and Ryan Hill walked the track this afternoon and said they could find no areas of concern and it was a consistent racing surface,” said Brad Lewis, Chief Steward, Thoroughbred.
“We will have another inspection tomorrow morninng, but we are condident the meeting will proceed if their is no further rain overnight.
“At this stage the track is rated a soft 6, but that will be closely monitored.”
The Pinjarra Race Club’s ability to withstand heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours is reflective of a complete track rebuild in 2007.
Tomorrow’s meeting is the second under the Magic Millions race day banner.
The first of eight races gets underway at 12:51pm.
The Magic Millions WA 3YO Trophy (1200m) is race five, the Magic Millions 2YO Classic, a major race for juveniles building towards the Karrakatta Plate, is race seven.
