Pinny Tiger Continues To Dominate at Narrogin
Pinny Tiger loves Narrogin, and with four wins at the track in his last five starts as well as a second placing in the Cup just three weeks earlier, the front runner was able to cross from barrier six, securing the win for Michael Brennan and Trent Wheeler. Managing to cross the favourite Rockin Rufus in the early stages, the four-year-old went on to win by 7.1m in 1:58:2 over the 2242m trip. Pinny Tiger is currently in the top spot for leading club pacer, sitting on 18 point, 10 points ahead of his nearest rival. The win put Trent Wheeler in the lead for leading club driver, with the Collie based reinsman sitting on 33 points, four points ahead of Kyle Symington.
Make Your Mark returned to the winner’s circle after a short let up, coming off a last start second at Williams on the 6th of March. Trained by Sarah Wall and driven by Emily Suvaljko, the three-year-old worked forward from barrier three in the opener, working forward to eventually gain the lead after almost a lap over the 2242m, finding enough to take the win in race one by 1.5m in 1:59:9.
The Barry Howlett trained, and Chris Voak reined Linebacker NZ justified his $1.08 starting price by leading all the way in race two over the 2242m, with a dominating win by 27.2m over his rivals. The three-year-old NZ bred colt lined up from barrier one, and after minimal pressure for the front, rolled on to win with ease, bringing up his fourth career victory for his connections.
I Am Pink brought up her second win for Matt Scott since entering his stable just four starts ago. Driven by Deni Roberts, the five-year-old started from barrier 7, the inside of the back line, where she found herself settling three back on the pegs, but with 400m to go, Roberts pulled her three wide to make her run, flashing home to take the win by just a neck in 2:02:7.
Emily Suvajko’s second instalment of her driving double on the card came up in race four when she steered home Eton Rock to victory for Nathan Turvey. The $1.30 favourite lead from start to finish over the 2662m journey, recording a winning mile rate of 2:04:4.
Trainer/driver Dylan Egerton-Green kept the flag flying for favourite punters with Champagne Everyone bringing up her third career win in just 12 starts. The three-year-old Westbred filly lead all the way from barrier two, winning by a head in 2:06:1.
The seventh on the card went the way of another favourite, with Regal Aura settling in the breeze throughout but proving too strong, giving Trent Wheeler his second win on the night. The four-year-old double westbred gelding brought up his second win this season and fifth career win on Saturday night, taking the win by 1.4m over the 2242m journey in a mile rate of 2:00:7.
It’s been four years since Hayden Reeves has sat behind a winner, but Saturday night he was able to steer home the $10 shot Justa Reaction to his first victory at just his second start from a two-and-a-half year let up. The son of Auckland Reactor NZ has had his fair share of problems in the past, but in race eight he was on his best behaviour, coming three wide to win by a head in 2:03:8, in a very laid-back final quarter of 32.8 over the 2242m trip.
Ronald Scott continues to fly the flag for locally stood stallion Bonavista Bay, with the two-year-old making it two in a row since entering the stables of Jocelyn Young. After an impressive win just 12 days prior at Pinjarra where the green youngster sat in the breeze throughout, and in a repeat performance at Narrogin, he was able to sit outside the leader, kicking on to win comfortably by 9.3m in 2:04:7 in the small four horse field over the 1823m sprint journey.
