Post Racing Clerking Careers

Off The Track
It all began when trainer Simon Foster contacted Off the Track to ask if we would consider forwarding some of our Off the Track merchandise to a young lady in Kalgoorlie named Amelia Radford.
Amelia has taken over the care of one of Simon’s very successful ex racehorses ‘Fanicio’. With prize money earnings of over $240,000, Fanicio now enjoys a life with Amelia competing at various equestrian competitions throughout the state and is also employed during the Kalgoorlie round as a clerk horse.
Of course, we forwarded Amelia merchandise for her and Fanicio to wear as it is great promotion for Off the Track, we love to support our retired racehorses and their new owners and promote these awesome horses in their second careers…and it snowballed from there.
That got us thinking…after a bit of homework, we soon realised than 80% of clerking horses throughout WA are retired Thoroughbred racehorses.
You may have noticed already, but if not, you soon will see all retired racehorses which work as clerk horses on race days proudly wearing Off the Track merchandise, along with their clerks. Kalgoorlie, Albany, Mount Barker, Bunbury and Pinjarra are all geared up and soon too will be every other race club within WA.
We would love to take all the credit and say this was the initiative of Off the Track, but really, Simon Foster deserves all the credit for planting the seed in our head. Thank you Simon!
The aim of Off the Track is to promote retired Thoroughbred and Standardbred racehorses and increase the demand for them post racing in different equestrian disciplines, second careers or as pleasure horses.
We are always open to ideas and initiatives. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with your thoughts.
