Promising young rider, Randy Tan, will represent Western Australia in third round of the National Apprentice Series to be held under lights in Launceston on Wednesday evening.
Tan was born in Malaysia and rode track work on a 457 visa for trainer Lindsey Smith before commencing his apprenticeship under the tutelage of Stephen Miller last year.
Tan has ridden 46 winners this season including 13 at metropolitan level. He sits fifth on the Perth Apprentice premiership behind, Clint Johnston-Porter (27).
Tan will partner bay gelding You Didn’t for trainer Scott Brunton. The son of Tough Speed, drawn in barrier four, has been placed at his past two starts.
Tan will be able to secure points on Coriace. The six-year-old gelding is trained by John Blacker and has yet to be placed in three starts this campaign.
Tan joins Joe Azzopardi and Clint Johnston-Porter who have represented WA in the opening two legs of the National Apprentice Series.
