Jodi Reilly was the lucky winner of the Midwest Regional Heat, followed by Aimee Holmes as first runner up and Hayley Leonard as second runner up.
Ms Reilly will now go on to compete in the WA Country Cups Fashions on the Field Final to be held at Perth Racing on Saturday, December 1.
WA Country Cups caught up with Ms Reilly to talk about country racing and racing fashion, as well as the upcoming final, here is what she had to say:
1. What do you love about country racing? The atmosphere of the day out, the chance for the ladies and gents to dress up and catching up with everyone.
2. How long have you been going to the races for and what are some of your favourite memories? In my younger days a lot of time was spent at the races and stables as my father was a jockey long before I was born. In my early ages I had certainty seen a regional race track or ten! Up until WA Country Cups came on board with Fashions on the Fields I had only been sporadically to a race meet over the past 20 years. I have the best memories from playing around at the track after meets, making (lifelong) friends and racing around the course after the races! If we were lucky the Clerk of the Course, Mr Jupp, would let us pat his beautiful white horse at the end of the day!
3. Why do you enter Fashions on the Field? This is the same question my friends ask! I simply love the elegance of it and enjoy the opportunity to research, create and coordinate an outfit from head to toe. FOTF provides a chance to really step out of your daily comfort zone.
4. Describe your style. I feel my style is ever emerging (thank goodness), the result is certainly influenced by the season, the styles and the mood…all with a little elegance weaved in (I hope).
5. What tips do you have for people entering Fashions on the Field? Have fun with your outfit, dare to be different and be comfortable with what you are wearing. Mix and match – new, borrowed, repainted (last minute), op shop – create what works for you. You learn so much along the way (my first outfit was not the best), especially from the ladies that you meet who are in it for the same reason as you – to have fun, get dressed up and have a go!
6. What are some of your favourite things about the Midwest region? I love that there is so much to do and see from the coastline to the outback – we really are blessed. Geraldton, Kalbarri, Yalgoo and the Abrolhos Islands to name a few – these gorgeous places and more are all on our door step. They are must visit places.
7. What does it mean to you to be going to ascot to compete in the final? I am beyond excited and nervous! Heading to Ascot is a fabulous excuse to get all dressed up again and be trackside amongst the excitement and racing action! I am also looking forward to meeting and sharing the experience with the other finalists. It is always nice to share an experience with others share the same passion.
