WA Country Cups caught up with Ms Reynolds to talk about country racing and racing fashion, as well as the upcoming final, here is what she had to say:
1. What do you love about country racing? I love the diverse rural backdrop of each individual race course. There is nothing better than looking out over the track at rolling hills in the distance, or expansive farming land or a red, sandy desert. I love that each racecourse is different and draws that community together for a day of excitement, fun and a touch of glamour. Everyone has a smile on their face and I love the sense of anticipation as the first race starts.
2. How long have you been going to the races for and what are some of your favourite memories? I have been going to the races since 1999. Without fail, the country races are always a good day out. The people are just so friendly and ready to have a good day. My favourite memory is when we were fortunate enough to obtain some hot tips on the way into the course and we won on every single race!
3. Why do you enter Fashions on the Field? I keep asking myself the same question and it comes down to the fact that I love, love, love hats. I love the feeling of getting all dressed up and then putting on your headpiece and it takes everything to the next level. Millinery is universal, every woman worldwide appreciates the elegance of a good hat.
4. Describe your style. I tend to prefer a more simple style. Fashions on the Field is not just about a good hat or a good dress in isolation but about creating an entire package of style and (hopefully) sophistication. It’s an art and harder than it looks to bring it all together. I’ve definitively worn some outfits I would rather forget.
5. What tips do you have for people entering Fashions on the Field? Have fun… and just enjoy being in the moment. Sometimes you get a wonderful surprise and win, but the most important thing is that you have a great day with your friends and family, and really enjoy what you are wearing.
6. What are some of your favourite things about the Kimberley region? I have been going to the Northam race course for years. As soon as you walk in everyone is so friendly and loves a good chat. I really love that you can stand in the sunshine right up against the barrier and watch the horses thunder by, whilst all around you is the open country land.
The Wheatbelt region brings you the stunning Avon river, a sense of calm and serenity and a really great pie shop!
7. What does it mean to you to be going to ascot to compete in the final? It is the most wonderful and pleasant surprise. I am really grateful to be representing the Wheatbelt and I’m excited to meet the girls from around the State. It sounds like it is going to be a fantastic few days.
