RWWA Launches New Brand for WA Harness
Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) has today launched a new brand for harness racing in Western Australia – ‘The Trots WA’.
The move forms part of RWWA’s strategy to market and promote harness racing in the State. Harness is familiarly called the trots and the use of this colloquial name as the brand is easily recognisable to the wider community.
RWWA General Manager Racing Charlotte Mills said ‘The Trots WA’ brand will be applied across multiple initiatives and is versatile for all harness race clubs.
“Whilst there is a clear distinction between trotters and pacers in harness racing, the phrase ‘the trots’ has been used to describe the industry since its inception,” Charlotte said.
“Harness racing has a rich history in Western Australia and this new brand will provide a platform for all marketing initiatives as well as be available for clubs to integrate into their own promotions.”
Western Australia harness racing is responsible for generating $176.8 million to the State’s economy, with more than 4,600 participants in the industry.
In total, Western Australia has 12 harness clubs and five training venues, which host more than 250 race meetings each year.
Following the launch of the new brand, the Harness WA magazine and RWWA Harness Twitter handle will become ‘The Trots WA’.
