Scary Win By Clairvoyance
Scary and rapid improvement.
They were the two key take outs from trainer Darren McAuliffe following the exciting win of Clairvoyance at Belmont on Saturday.
A stylish winner over 1000m on debut three weeks ago, the Nostradamus filly gave further notice of her talent with a breathtaking win in the Vale Harvey Crossman Plate (1000m).
Validating McAuliffe’s huge opinion of the three-year-old, Clairvoyance led soon after the start and was never headed, extending her lead over the final 200 metres with an impressive turn of foot.
Launching the first leg of a treble for Chris Parnham, Clairvoyance won by five lengths, defeating odds on favourite Panzdown with another gap to Starfield Impact.
“Rapid Improvement obviously from her first-up win and you would have to be scared about that,” McAuliffe told The Races WA.
“It was huge improvement and she is a really nice filly in the making.
“I know what she has been doing on the track and has been sort of dispensing stakes level gallopers that are in my camp.
“I know where she sits and I’ve had track workers who don’t measure up, but she is the real deal
“She has such a beautiful long stride and a lovely loose action for a big, big filly.
“It was over a long, long way from home.”
McAuliffe said he would let the dust settle on Clairvoyance’s victory before targeting her next race.
“I don’t really have any plans,” McAuliffe said.
“I’ll sleep on it and see how she recovers from it.
“Obviously, a big filly like that we have to manage her appropriately.
“I hadn’t thought past today (Saturday).
Clairvoyance delivered a top start to the new racing season for McAuliffe that ended with a double after Montelena post an overdue win
Without a win since her debut just over a year ago, the Rubick mare broke the shackles to win by two lengths in a 1600m handicap.
“She is very hard work and beats herself most of the time,” McAuliffe said.
“She is a high-class filly and hopefully onwards and upwards from here.
“She’s been crying out for a bit of ground.
