Scott Finds An Interesting Situation
Trainer Matt Scott will unveil his latest New Zealand acquisition at Gloucester Park tonight in the Worldwide Printing Pace (2130m).
The Situation steps out for his first Australian start this evening and faces a tricky assignment in the penultimate event on the card against the Barry Howlett-trained Sadhita.
Scott, together with one of his prominent owners Tim Blee, purchased the three-year-old from New Zealand after his last win on March 4.
The Situation was stuck in New Zealand for three months due to COVID-19, which delayed his Australian race track debut.
Scott said he has liked what he’s seen from The Situation in his short time in Australia to date.
“He does everything right,” he told TABradio.
“We haven’t decided to trial him as he’s doing everything right at home.
“He’s working with all the Friday night horses and beating them.”
Scott said he was hopeful The Situation could score a win at his Australian debut but conceded Sadhita would take plenty of beating.
“I watched the one horse at Bunbury on Saturday night and it led from barrier two,” he said.
“I don’t think we can sit outside it and beat it.
“The only chance we’ve got is if we try and cross at the start, whether we do that or not.
“If The Situation doesn’t win tonight he’s definitely going to win in the next couple of weeks because he’s on a very low mark.”
Meanwhile, Golden Nugget winner Shockwave is closing in on a return to racing as he eyes off a second shot at the Fremantle and WA Pacing Cups later this year.

Speaking on TABradio’s One Out One Back trainer Ryan Bell said Shockwave was getting close to trialling.
“He’s about three to four weeks away from having his first light trial,” he said.
“We will bring him up a bit differently this time, he will have a couple of trials before heading to the races.
“He will have a nice soft trial and then he will have a real hit out and go to the races.
“Everything is spot on at the moment.”
Elsewhere, WA Derby winner Patronus Star continued his winning start to the campaign in yesterday’s Alcoa Pace (2692m) at Pinjarra.
Having his second start since the WA Derby success in April, Patronus Star worked his way to the lead from barrier five and went on to score a comfortable 6.4m win over Bettorgrinanbarit in 1.59.1.
