Siren call to help St John’s Ambulance at the annual Mount Magnet Cup
The annual race day at Mount Magnet Race Club will benefit the local St John’s Ambulance branch through local and Community TAB fundraising on Saturday, 18 September.
The Mount Magnet Race Club will be seeking donations on course and Community TAB will match funds up to total of $2000.
Club President Debbie Dowden said the long-standing partnership with Community TAB has had a positive impact on the local community and helped to broaden the perspective of racing in country towns.
“Our partnership with Community TAB means that our annual single race day leaves a lasting impression on our small community,” Debbie said.
“St John’s Ambulance are a volunteer group who are essential to the community, where we rely on a well-funded ambulance service.
“There will be a variety of fundraising activities happening throughout the day including the senior citizens bus, gymkhana club fundraising and food stalls, with all funds going directly towards purchasing essential medical equipment.”
RWWA Chair Jeff Ovens said the positive effects of the Community TAB program had been extensive for regional WA, with 48 of WA’s race clubs based in regional communities.
“RWWA recognises that race clubs across WA play an important role in their community, contributing both economically and socially, with partnerships like these an example of the strong connection race clubs have within the communities in which they operate,” Jeff said.
“Community TAB is proud to play our part in giving back to the community and many organisations are supported as part of the program.”
The Community TAB dollar matching program began in 2015 and has since raised more than $700,000 for not-for-profit organisations around WA through partnerships with local race clubs.
