Star Perth Duo Ramp Up Everest Bid
Perth-owned mare Enticing Star made a big impression at Rosehill this morning (Tuesday) when she posted an impressive barrier trial win.
With jockey Hugh Bowman aboard, Enticing Star sat off the speed before sprinting clear in the straight and cruised to the line untouched.
In her first official outing in Sydney for champion trainer, Chris Waller, the Testa Rossa mare finished 1 ¼ lengths clear of Night’s Watch.
In a perfect opener ahead of her Everest bid in October, she ran her 1000m heat in 1.01.00 sec and covered the final 600m in 35.30sec.
Later in heat nine Group One stable mate Arcadia Queen, also making her official maiden appearance in Sydney, impressed when second in an 893m trial.
Under a strong hold for jockey James McDonald, the boom Pierro mare hit the line strongly behind Greyworm in an encouraging performance.
Leading Perth owner-breeder, Bob Peters said both trials were the perfect starts to Enticing Star’s and Arcadia Queen’s spring campaigns.
“The trainer was the happy and the jockeys were happy,” Peters told The Races WA.
“Chris (Waller) rang me straight after the trials.
“Everybody was smiling which is nice.
“But it’s their first work and there is a long way to go.”
Peters said Arcadia Queen and Enticing Star will have another trial before their bid for The Everest on October 19.
Tabtouch supporters have Arcadia Queen holding sway over Enticing Star for The Everest.
Arcadia Queen is currently a $9 prospect with Enticing Star ($15) at double figure odds.
Santa Ana Lane is the $5.50 favourite.
