WA Country Cups
One of Australia’s most renowned supermodels will head to the West Coast this week as the official VIP Guest for the Final of Western Australia’s state-wide racing fashion competition, the WA Country Cups Fashions on the Field.
International model, Samantha Harris, will head to the West to attend and judge Racing and Wagering Western Australia’s (RWWA) WA Country Cups Fashions on the Field Final, which will be held at the Crown Perth Winterbottom Race Day, at Ascot Racecourse on Saturday 26th November.
Ms Harris was first discovered at the age of 14 when she won the Girlfriend Model Search competition. She has since graced the covers of Australian Vogue as well as being an ambassador for major brands such as David Jones and Priceline, and is also well known for her support of regional communities.
“I am honoured to be invited as the official VIP Guest for the 2016 WA Country Cups Fashions on the Field Final and I am really looking forward to being able to be a part of the celebrations for this inaugural event,” said Ms Harris.
“I believe this initiative is a great way to showcase regional Australia and support the local communities in which these racing events are held.”
The WA Country Cups Fashions on the Field Final at Ascot will see finalists from regional heats, held at major country race meetings across the state, battle it out on the catwalk for a $25,000 Racing Holiday and Spending Spree in Hong Kong.
The prize includes a seven night trip to Hong Kong courtesy of Motive Travel, where the lucky winner will experience two of the most prestigious racing events in the world, the Hong Kong International Jockey’s Championship at Happy Valley and the Hong Kong International Races at Sha Tin.
Other judges for the WA Country Cups Fashions on the Field Final include: model, style icon and former Miss Universe Australia, Scherri-Lee Biggs; Deputy Editor West Weekend Magazine and Style Editor The West Australian, Amanda Keenan; WA stylist, Ivanna Fontana; General Manager Community TAB, Matthew Thomas; and RWWA Representative, Rebecca Tucker.
Ms Harris will also be attending a WA Country Cups High Tea function at Frasers Suites on Friday 25 November, which will feature an exclusive runway show by the Telstra Perth Fashion Festival. The High Tea will be a celebration of racing fashion and the upcoming Final.
“WA has one of the largest country racing precincts in the world, with 35 thoroughbred race clubs spread across the State,” said Executive Manager Racing Marketing and Communications, Charlotte Mills.
“Fashions on the Field has always played a major role in Australian thoroughbred racing and this initiative will shine a light on racing and racing fashion in regional WA. The final at Ascot will also present an opportunity to bring a taste of country racing to the city.”
The WA Country Cups Fashions on the Field Final will be held in the Leger Lawn Marquee located on the far end of the main grandstand at Ascot Racecourse and will be open to the general public. For more information head to www.wacountrycups.com.au.
