Take the fast track to racehorse ownership with Harness the Dream
Entries open today for the chance to win a 10 per cent share in a ready-to-race standardbred colt with Harness the Dream.
The competition is free to enter and introduces new owners to the world of harness racing through two special events offering a behind-the-scenes insight into the trots.
Harness the Dream ambassador Matt Young said the fun and excitement of racehorse ownership was more accessible and affordable than many people realised.
“There’s nothing like the thrill of watching your own horse charge over the finish line in first place,” Matt said.
“Harness the Dream is a chance to team up with a friend for an insight into pacing which could lead to a share in a magnificent two-year-old colt who is already being prepared to race in the heats of the $100,000 Colts & Geldings Sales Classic in February.
“That’s an astonishing opportunity for the winners, who could have a share in a Group 1 runner less than a month after becoming owners.”
The competition starts with a stable tour on 22 January 2022 where leading trainers share the routines behind a racehorse in training, followed by a masterclass luncheon to learn about the APG Perth Yearling Sales and tips for choosing a champion.
The finale is the ultimate race night experience. Teams will be treated to VIP hospitality at the WA Pacing Cup on 4 February at Gloucester Park, where the Harness the Dream 2022 winner will be announced.
As well as a 10 per cent syndicate share in the colt by Art Major out of Courage on Fire NZ, the winning team get all their training fees paid until 30 June 2023, taking the total prize to around $10,000.
Matt and fellow ambassador Ash Reeves are keen to show new owners the spectacle of the Summer Carnival at Gloucester Park.
“Harness the Dream is the perfect introduction to the pacing community and ownership at the trots,” Ash said.
Teams of two must register before Friday, 14 January, at www.harnessthedreamwa.com.au. The competition is limited to 50 teams and both members must attend the two events to be eligible to win prizes.
In addition to the major prize, eligible teams receive a $500 WestBred voucher towards a horse at the 2022 APG Perth Yearling Sale.
