Tight race ahead for the 2021 thoroughbred awards
A tussle for first place is anticipated in every category of the WA Thoroughbred Racing Awards this year.
Racing and Wagering Western Australia will present the awards to the state’s most outstanding thoroughbreds of the 2020-2021 racing season on August 28.
In announcing the nominees, Commercial Racing and Planning Manager David Hunter said it was difficult for the judging panel to narrow down the winning horses from an exceptional racing season.
“In some years we see a dominant horse in at least one or two categories but this has been a year of consistently high quality and there have been some tough decisions for the judges,” David said.
“Just as we’ve seen WA gallopers vying for the lead on the track, it’s a tight race for the top horse awards.
“Congratulations to all the owners, trainers, jockeys and other connections of the nominees, who have been involved in remarkable performances across the past racing season.”
