Todd McKenney Gets Behind Greyhounds at the Perth Royal Show
Theatre star, radio host and TV personality Todd McKenney came down to the Perth Royal Show as part of his ambassador role for Greyhounds As Pets (GAP).
McKenney joined GAP at the Perth Royal Show on Monday the 30th of September alongside employees and volunteers who work tirelessly to ensure greyhounds are given the best level of care throughout their lives, including facilitating their transition from racing into loving forever homes in Western Australia.
McKenney, who has two pet greyhounds of his own, said he had fallen in love with the breed since learning about greyhound adoption from a friend.
“They are such a beautiful breed and often misunderstood. People’s perception of a greyhound and the reality of what a greyhound is actually like as a pet can often be two different things,” McKenney said.
“Greyhounds make the most amazing pets because they’re so soulful and loving.”
“They’re lazy, they’re loving and they run like the wind – it’s amazing to watch. But they are just really relaxed dogs. They are chilled out, I love that energy around me, they’re just slow, lazy and gorgeous.”
The entertainment legend is the national ambassador for Greyhound Adoption through Greyhounds As Pets.
“I’ve got all of my greyhounds through GAP and the process has been really easy, I feel very supported by all of the staff… There’s always someone on the other end of the phone if I have a question about them.”
