Tommy has an excellent record over the 520 metre trip at Headquarters where he has had 15 starts for 11 wins and 3 placings.
Trainer Steve Withers joined Tim Walker and Digby Beacham on the Sports Daily on TAB Radio on Thursday and reported that while not expecting Tommy to be at his peak he was happy with his charge.
“We have been able to get a couple of trials in to him that have pleased me.” Withers said.
“He is not going up to his very best but he is pretty close to it.” Withers added.
“There is plenty of pace in the race so hopefully Tommy can step somewhere near his best and be right there.” Withers said.
It was recently announced that the winner of each state final will receive a semi-final berth in to the $1 Million Chase at Wentworth Park, a point not lost on Withers.
“It will be really challenging to get through and win the final but if we did happen to get through we know that he loves racing at Wentworth Park.” Withers concluded.
Both heats of the WA Sprint Championship have drawn together excellent fields and promise to be excellent affairs.
The other feature event on the night is the Greyhounds WA Distance Championship over the 715 metres.

That performance broke the 520 metre Maiden record time of Quick Jagger (29.54 seconds) which was set in February 2017.
The rumour mill had been suggesting this youngster was a star in the making and off that debut performance he looks to have a very bright future ahead.
