Topology is racing in outstanding form, but trainer Paul Stuart says the talented chaser will have to take it to another level when he tackles a heat of the WA Derby (520m) at Cannington on Saturday.

Topology claimed his third straight win at Cannington last week, won the Mandurah Derby two starts back and has drawn ideally in box four, but Stuart has his concerns.
“He has drawn a tough race and did a few things wrong last week,” Stuart said on TABradio.
“He got the job done but has a habit of wanting to scout wide.
“He missed the start and got back, but is a strong dog who finished the race off well.
“He is definitely up in grade and has Ramifications next to him who can show a lot of early speed.
“He is in good form with confidence, but he can’t afford to do anything wrong.
“He will have to come out of the lids cleanly and be in the first two coming to the first corner.”
Ramifications hasn’t bothered the judges at his past two starts, but has run into bad luck on both occasions.
He won a heat of the Perth Cup for trainer, Chris Halse, and does look to have more than average ability.
Victorian, My Silver Chisel, has won nine races from 24 starts and has yet to miss the money from the red.
Stuart will unveil newcomer, France Soir, in the second of the heats. The son of Magic Sprite and Magic Capers arrives with a solid reputation after his win in the Queensland Derby.
He had a good look at the Cannington track last week and impressed when winning a trial over 520m in 30.06sec., but Stuart says he will need to show further improvement from box seven.
“He is running into a pretty slick field with Eisenhower and Monaro Monelli in one and two who can run good speed,” Stuart said.
“From what they tell me he is a moderate beginner and is going to need to find an extra length or two before the first corner.
“He is talented dog who can chase and was brought across for the Derby, but he is going to have to rely on a bit of luck.”
