WA Racing Update – 23 December 2021
The WA Government have announced that from 6pm tonight, until at least 6am Tuesday December 28, the following public health rules will apply across Perth and Peel:
- Masks will be mandatory in all public indoor settings, this will include any indoor areas at racecourses in the Perth and Peel area.
- Masks are recommended to be worn outside where physical distancing is not possible – in line with this, RWWA has identified the following outside areas where masks will be required:
- Greyhound Racetracks:
- Kennelling areas
- Parade areas
- During the boxing of greyhounds
- Catching pens
- Equine Racetracks:
- Mounting yards/parade rings
- Horse stalls
- Please note these requirements will also apply to anyone who has been in Perth or Peel since Thursday, 16 December and are travelling to a race meeting in a different part of the State.
A number of potential exposure sites have been identified across Perth, including in Mirrabooka, Joondalup, Girrawheen, Perth and the CBD, Subiaco, Northbridge and Scarborough.

If you have been to any of the exposure sites, you are not permitted to attend any WA racecourses or training centres, and please present for testing. Further information on COVID-19 Testing Clinics please click here.
Outside of the above requirements, race meetings, trials and trackwork will proceed as normal. However, please ensure appropriate physical distancing, using SafeWA and good hygiene practices when on-course.
