All four final contenders will be acknowledged at a lunch time function at Mandurah Quays Resort on Sunday, 26 March 2017. At which the 2016 WA GOTY Award will be presented, along with various other awards.
REINSTATEMENT OF GREYHOUND FEATURE FUNDING
RWWA is pleased to announce that the decision to cut feature finals by 10% and the Perth Cup and Galaxy series by 20% has been reconsidered and the full feature funding has been reinstated.
Connections with runners from the 5 finals concluded with the 10% reduction (Anniversary Cup, Express Stake, Christmas Gift, The Claude Powell & Peel Plate) will receive a stakes correction in this week’s payment run.
Changes to RWWA Litter Registration Fee and micro-chips for pups
When micro-chipping was first introduced in 2011 by Greyhounds Australasia, all states were supplied with a quantity of free micro-chips by GA. These chips have now been distributed in full to previously registered litters, and RWWA have had to purchase new quantities of micro-chips for distribution to all new litters. The fee for the new micro-chips will be passed on at RWWA’s cost price only of $5.00 per micro-chip (incl GST) per pup.
Therefore please note that the cost of a new litter registration will now be $38.00 per litter plus $5.00 per pup micro-chipped. When signing the litter registration after ear branding by the Stewards, please provide payment at the bottom of the form (with credit card details) including the cost of $5.00 per micro-chip inserted for each pup. You will not be charged for any unused micro-chips given back to the Stewards with the paperwork.
All greyhounds whelped after 1 January 2011 must be micro-chipped by a RWWA Approved Veterinarian (refer to approved veterinarians list) between the age of 6-12 weeks as a requirement for litter registration. Micro-chips will be provided direct to breeders by RWWA upon lodgement of the ‘Whelp Notice’ (Form D) and sent to the registered breeder along with the ‘Application for Registration of a Litter’ (Form E).
Micro-chip insertion must be completed by a RWWA approved veterinarian (6-12 weeks) prior to the RWWA Stewards attending for the litter registration.
Queries regarding micro-chipping can be directed to (08) 9445 5501.

UNFULFILLED COMMITMENTS POLICY CHANGE
The current policy where greyhounds can be drawn into a race with an unfulfilled commitment has been suspended. The industry via WAGBOTA have been consulted regarding this change and it is felt that it is a fairer way to see more individual greyhounds get a start each week.
Fields will be graded under this new policy from Monday 19 December onwards. It will be reviewed in April at the beginning of the Northam season.
Please note greyhounds with unfulfilled commitments can still be nominated however they will be drawn behind those with no commitment to race at the time of grading.
In some circumstances engaged greyhounds may be drawn to lessen the need to draw mixed grade races however this will be on a case by case basis.
This policy does not apply to Feature Race heats.
