ALL GREYHOUNDS TO BE MICROCHIPPED BY 1 NOVEMBER 2015
In order to ensure RWWA compliance with the Dog Act all registered greyhounds are required to have a microchip recorded by 1 November 2015.
The RWWA Integrity Assurance Committee has therefore approved the following Local Rule.
Local Rule 111A All Greyhounds must be microchipped;
As from 1 November 2015 all greyhounds in Western Australia must be micro-chipped in accordance with the requirement of the Controlling Body.”
The Stewards may penalise the owner of any greyhound in breach of this rule.
All owners of registered greyhounds (named or unnamed) must therefore ensure that all of their greyhounds have been microchipped.
The process for an Owner to apply to RWWA for a microchip to be implanted is as follows;
- Trainer/Owner to complete the “APPLICATION TO MICROCHIP A GREYHOUND REGISTERED WITH RWWA “ – form which will be available on course, online at www.rwwa.com.au or by contacting Licensing & Registrations
- Applicant lodges the application with Licensing & Registrations
- Application form is returned to Applicant by L & R together with a microchip and list of approved vets (After L & R have verified that the greyhound does not already have a microchip).
- Applicant takes the form and the microchip to a RWWA approved Veterinarian who implants the microchip using the same process as they currently do with greyhound puppies.
- Applicant returns the application form, together with the current racing Certificate to Licensing & Registrations Licensing & Registrations will finalize the microchip registration and will issue a new Greyhound Identification Card.
- Please allow for this process 5 – 10 business days
Application forms are available at all three tracks or by contacting the RWWA Licensing and Registration Department of 9445 5558.
