What an Entree!
This evening’s 12 race card at Cannington looms as an entrée to the next fortnight’s main meal of the Group 1 Perth Cup and Galaxy series.
Two talented Victorians, Tiggerlong Tonk and Sunset Bourbski have arrived early for their assault on the WA Carnival and will compete in tonight’s Perth Cup Preludes and Galaxy Preludes.
Tiggerlong Tonk ran second behind Tommy Shelby in the Group 1 Hobart 1000 last year and he has been a prolific winner putting together a career record of 72 starts for 34 victories and 22 placings with nearly $400,000 in prizemoney.
Trainer Correy Grenfell knows what it takes to win a Perth Cup having tasted success with his gun sprinter Orson Allen in 2019.
Tiggerlong Tonk has drawn perfectly for the Perth Cup Prelude tonight in box 8, a draw he has had 12 times for 7 wins and 2 placings.
The son of Dyna Double One musters quickly when given the opportunity and he should get room to open up his engine early on in the event tonight.
Last week’s Lew Dorsa Memorial winner Stout Monelli has drawn in box four and will again look to show his more experienced rivals that he is a legitimate Perth Cup prospect.
Talented big V stayer Sunset Bourbski is one of the most powerful finishers in the country and her clash with local star Zack Monelli will be one of the clashes of the night in the Galaxy Prelude.
Zack was an impressive 34.70 winner of the Free For all over 600 metres last week and he has won all 3 of his starts over the 715 metres at the Cannington circuit.
It will be a fascinating affair with Zack likely to be up front high-balling while Sunset Bourbski while be getting back and charging home.
A host of Perth Cup and Galaxy hopefuls are on show throughout the evening in what is a stellar 12 race card.
My two best bets on the program are race 6 number 1 Projectory, while in the last race I thought Chevy’s Entry looked a nice each way bet off the inside draw.
