“Carnarvon’s prominent racing season runs from May until September, culminating in the running of the time-honoured Carnarvon Cup.

Carnarvon, located in the heart of the Gascoyne on the doorstep of the Indian Ocean, is a racing hub for several trainers and also attracts racing participants from around the North-West, the Kimberley and the Mid-West.

The success of the Carnarvon Cup led to it being run as a standalone meeting in 2009. The cup’s lucrative prize money for a country venue often lures some of the better performers from other country cup carnivals.”
