York Racing

“Situated in the beautiful and historic town of York an hour’s drive from Perth city, the picturesque York racecourse will re-open for racing in March 2015 after a freak storm destroyed the Heritage listed grandstand and most of the racecourse infrastructure four years ago, bringing Thoroughbred racing in York to a stop for the first time in more than a century.

Amalgamation of the towns’ Turf and Harness Clubs to form a new entity, York Racing Inc, ensured the organisation would survive while a complete rebuilding program was undertaken at the racecourse. With support and funding from the Royalties For Regions Grants Scheme, Racing and Wagering WA, and the community of York, the club has come through this adversity and now stands on the brink of an exciting new era.

The racecourse in its unique setting at the foot of Mount Bakewell and the high quality attractions and services of York town combine to offer a memorable destination for visitors. The York Cup takes place in November each year. ”
