RWWA Stewards have been advised by the ChemCentre in Perth, that cocaine, benzoylecgonine and ecgonine methyl ester has been detected in samples taken from BARON JUJON, trained by Mr Matthew Henwood after competing in the following races:
Race 3 – Narrogin 22 January, 2019
Race 4 – Northam 16 February, 2019
In view of the serious nature of the substance detected, Stewards have commenced an inquiry and investigation into these reports. This matter also led to the withdrawal of horses trained by Mr Henwood from their engagements at Northam on 22 March, 2019 following stewards attendance at his premises that afternoon to question him in relation to these reports.
Pursuant to Rule 183 and 183A of the RWWA Rules of Harness Racing, all licences held by Mr Henwood have been suspended, pending the outcome of inquiry and no horse in which he has a connection shall be permitted to be nominated for or start in a race.
Further BARON JUJON shall not be nominated for or compete in any event.
A date for the Stewards inquiry will be determined once all investigations and analysis is completed.
