Community TAB and Netball WA partnership set to boost regions
17 March, 2018
Netball WA is pleased to announce a major contributing partnership with Community TAB, which will boost support for regional players living across Western Australia.
The $40,000 will fund equipment, uniforms, coaches, umpires and off court education programs for Netball WA’s 10 Aboriginal Grassroots Sites.
Community TAB proudly promotes the Corporate Social Responsibility of Racing and Wagering WA by giving back to the WA community.
The partnership was launched today at Thomas Oval in Medina, which included a training and shooting competition run by Netball WA.
Racing and Wagering WA Chief Executive Officer Richard Burt said he was excited to see a partnership that will make an immediate and long-term change for regional communities.
“Community TAB is thrilled to enter this new partnership with Netball WA to support their Aboriginal All Stars and Grassroots Programs to further our contribution in the WA sporting community, regional WA and Indigenous community,” he said.
“We recognise the importance of these programs in promoting health and wellbeing, developing role models for Aboriginal women and encouraging strong connection to country and culture.”
“We are excited to know that our contribution will go towards creating pathways, both on and off the court, for Aboriginal women throughout WA.”
Netball WA CEO Simon Taylor said the new partnership will have a direct and positive impact for children living in WA’s regions.
“This investment will help us continue to use our great game of netball to enable meaningful upskilling for regional players across the State,” Taylor said.
“The Aboriginal Grassroots Program helps to empower young women to take control of their off-court education and help them to realise their full potential.”
“We are grateful to partner with Community TAB in helping to make a program that will help communities long into the future.”
With clubs and competitions in every major town throughout the state, engaging with more than 200,000 participants, over 8,500 of those identifying as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, Netball WA has a diverse portfolio of programs and activities.
Netball provides a positive environment and nurtures local role models to improve health and wellbeing and build sustainable capacity for regional towns and local communities.
Community TAB supports WA in many different industries including racing, sport, not-for-profit organisations and Western Australian events that support home-grown talent.
