What Cropduster may lack in pure explosiveness is matched by her determination and tenacity, underlined by her victory in the Westchase Final (520m) at Cannington on Saturday.
Giving trainer Paul Stuart one of the few trophies missing from his racing resume, Cropduster was headed at the first turn, but charged home from third position in a gutsy victory.
The Kc And All Bitch, a winner of the WA Oaks in May, continues to race with impressive consistency, boosting her record to nine wins and five placings from 18 career starts.
Stuart says he has ambitious plans for Cropduster and believes her versatility and recent performances warrants having a shot at next month’s WA Nationals.
“She is not the fastest dog in the world, but she just chases,” Stuart told Tabradio.
“She can lead or come from behind to win.
“That’s a pretty rare thing in dogs today.
“She turns up every week and running the same races
“She is pulling out a few big wins which is outstanding.
“She is going tremendous.
“She has still yet to prove it in top company, but we will try for it.
“If she has any luck she will be thereabouts.”
Cropduster’s $30,000 West Chase victory continued an amazing period for her owner, Peter Cameron after Vanderworp won last week’s Group Bendigo Cup final.
“I was pretty happy to see her strong and come over the top of them,” Cameron said.
“I’m very lucky of late with the dogs I own.
“She is not as brilliant as Vanderworp, but is consistent and always chases hard.
“I love her a lot and she is a great little bitch.”
