Crudelli’s Up The Ante

Perth Cup winning Trainer Enzo Crudeli has injected some spice into the WA Chasing scene with the acquisition of a host of top grade chasers from the east coast for his kennels.
Last month the Ten Eighty Syndicate purchased a package of well-performed speedsters from Australia’s number one Breeder Paul Wheeler including Australian Cup winner Hecton Bale and Rookie Rebel winner Dyna Dean.
The arrival of such high profile commodities is a welcome boost to the local industry and will create significant interest Australia wide.
Last Saturday night middle distance star Dyna Dean showed what he is capable of zipping around the 600 metre circuit in a slick 34.69, a time just three lengths outside of the track record.
Kennel spokesman Graham Crudeli couldn’t hide his excitement when questioned on the new additions to the kennel.
“To be offered greyhounds the calibre of this group is amazing and we jumped at the opportunity.”Crudeli said.
“Hecton Bale is one of the most exciting sprinters in the country and Dyna Dean has been airborne in recent months.”
“It doesn’t end there either – Mossimo Bale has been a great campaigner and is the winner of more than $120,000 in prizemoney while Dyna Orenthal, Gehring Bale, Verne Allen, Dyna Fabrice and Immen Bale are all well above average chasers.” Crudeli added.
The majority of the new arrivals have now had a couple of looks at the Cannington circuit and Crudeli believes they will go from strength to strength in the coming weeks.
“Even though they are experienced chasers it always takes a bit of time to settle into the new surrounds and get used to racing at a new track.” Crudeli said.
“Over the next couple of weeks I would expect that the majority of the team will continue to improve with each visit to the track.”
Dyna Dean raced without much luck at his WA debut a fortnight ago when placed in a heat of the Anniversary Cup over 530 metres behind Campini and showed the benefit of that run when winning a Free For All over the 600 metres last week.
“Dyna Dean had to work hard for his victory last week against West On Hawkeye but the time was on the board and what a race it ended up being!” Crudeli said.
“He steps up to 715 metres this week and it will be really interesting to see how he goes.”
“He runs into Moment To Jive and Reidy’s Runner who have both been flying of late and it shapes as a great contest.”
“He may well get a little weary the last little bit but he will be running along up front and they are going to have to run slick time to beat him.” Crudeli suggested.
Dyna Orenthal wasted no time in adding to his winning tally when he took out a mixed grade 4/5 over 600 metres last week and he has come up with box one in a similar event over 600 metres on Saturday.
“He was nice and strong to the line and the win was a great confidence booster for him.” Crudeli said.
“The move to box one for his race on Saturday is a real bonus and he should be right in the finish again.”
Crudeli believes one of Dyna Orenthal’s kennelmates Black Bombshell could be the toughest for him to beat.
“Black Bombshell was ultra-impressive in winning his sprint race last week and I have always thought he would make an excellent middle distance dog.” Crudeli commented.
“He should get a nice cart across with Twice As Wicked who is drawn inside of him and with a clear run I think he could take some stopping.”
Gehring Bale, Verne Allen and Dyna Fabrice are all engaged in a Canning Stake but Crudeli suggested they may well be running for minor money.
“All three of them are capable but they run into the two young guns of WA chasing in Campini and West On Holly and I think realistically they would be doing a big job to get within a few lengths of that duo.” Crudeli suggested.
Group 1 Australian Cup winner Hecton Bale is still approximately a month away from returning on race night and will next week begin his double life as a Stud Dog.
“We have been inundated with calls requesting his services so we decided to register him as a stud dog and next week he will begin delivering some straws.” Crudeli said.
“He will stand at stud for an introductory fee of $1,500 per service but to give him a kick-start we have decided to offer a free service to the first ten bitches that are either proven brood bitches or multiple city winners.”
“We believe this will help to get some quality stock on the ground and by the time he retires from his racing career he will hopefully have some of his progeny burning up the track.”
“If anyone has a bitch in season that fits the criteria get in touch with me and who knows we could have the next batch of Group 1 Stars on our hands.” Crudeli concluded.
