WA Derby winner King Of Swing has made an impressive return to racing, taking out the Worldwide Printing Pace (2130m) at Gloucester Park last night.
The Gary Hall Snr-trained three-year-old started a $1.05 favourite for his return and was never troubled throughout the event.
Reinsman Gary Hall Jnr was able to hold the lead from gate one and slowly increased his lead throughout the run, with the final margin 67.2m.
King Of Swing recorded a time of 1.56.9 and ran home in 58.3.
Flying Seelster and Jiving Jolt filled the minor placings.
It was just King Of Swing’s third start in Australia, with his previous two runs resulting in a second in the WA Derby Prelude prior to his Derby win.
King Of Swing’s win came in the final event of the evening, capping off a successful night for the Hall stable after Eloquent Mach won the TABtouch Two-Year-Old Pace (1730m).
Hall Jnr settled the gelding midfield in running, before he peeled out on the final lap to be three-wide and wear down his rivals in the home straight.
The other notable winner from last night’s Gloucester Park meeting was the Mike Reed-trained The Art Form, who overcame a tricky gate to win the Princi Butchers Pace (2130m).
