Dig Deep Out Of The Sires

Dig Deep has been scratched from the WA Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) after the top sprinter was found to have a foot abscess.
The Ben and Dan Pearce-trained two-year-old had been the $2.20 favourite for the Group 3 feature race at Ascot on Good Friday.
Dig Deep held favouritism after his brilliant win in the Group 2 Karrakatta Plate (1200m) two weeks ago.
“It’s disappointing, but at the end of the day he has won a Karrakatta Plate (1200m) in his first preparation,” Ben Pearce told The Races WA.
“He had a hoof issue with an abscess that burst yesterday (Tuesday).
“There was every chance he could have come up for Friday, but we don’t want to risk him.
“If he is not 100 per cent we wouldn’t think about it.”
The WA Sires field has been reduced to eight runners.
Dig Deep’s scratching has seen Karrakatta Plate runner-up Tinsnips installed as the $2.45 favourite.
