Gosnells Cricket Club awarded $4000 Community TAB Sports Grant
13 November, 2018
Community TAB of Racing and Wagering WA (RWWA) has awarded Gosnells Cricket Club a $4000 sports grant.
Gosnells Cricket Club was one of two groups to receive a grant this month, selected from over 300 sporting clubs that applied from around WA.
Gosnells Cricket Club President Ross Leipold said the grant will go towards a bowling machine and relieve some of the financial pressure on the club.
“The Gosnells Cricket Club relies heavily on grants and sponsorship to deliver the necessary training tools to juniors in our district to further their opportunities and enhance their cricket skills,” Mr Leipold said.
“Coaches from community cricket and WACA cricket see bowling machines as a vital part of any coaching session as it allows them to hone the skills of the young cricketers within our clubs district.
“Construction of our new indoor training facility is due to commence and the inclusion of a bowling machine will play a vital role in the clubs ability to perform one on one coaching as well as group coaching sessions for 12 months of the year for our many community clubs and schools in the region.
“Many thanks to Community TAB for their continued support of local sporting clubs in assisting them by providing much needed funds to continue to upgrade and the purchase of new training equipment required to carry out training sessions.”
RWWA CEO Richard Burt said the organisation recognises the importance of grass roots sport throughout WA.
“We understand that it takes time and resources to keep a club running within the community, so we are pleased to be giving the opportunity to help relieve this burden on clubs,” Mr Burt said.
“RWWA has been supporting the WA sport and recreation industry for many years through providing millions of dollars over 10 years to the Department of Sport and Recreation (DSR) and more recently through Community TAB sponsoring the WA Football League and WA Integrated Football Program.”
Community TAB will provide at least one grant each month to a sporting club to further their contribution to the sport and recreation industry in WA. Once a club applies for a grant, the application will stay within the pool until the grant is awarded.
