Fresh off a commanding victory in the Group 3 Miata over 715 metres at Cannington on Saturday night Moment To Jive will accept her invitation to take on Australia’s best stayers in the Group 1 Zoom Top at the Meadows next Saturday February 16.
The Sarah Appleton trained daughter of Mogambo and Sharon Monelli brought up her fourth straight victory when leading throughout in the Miata defeating kennelmate Moment To Rumba by more than four lengths in a time of 41.92 seconds.
It was her 32nd career victory at her eighty eighth start and the winner’s purse swelled her career earnings to more than $264,000.
Despite closing in on her fourth Birthday Moment To Jive has never raced better and just three starts ago she recorded her Personal Best time over the 715 metre circuit at Cannington when stopping the clock at 41.73 seconds.
Trainer Sarah Appleton took her time to consider the invitation to the Meadows before declaring Moment To Jive was good to go for the Group 1 Feature next Saturday night.
“She is going so well here at the moment and I was reluctant to change her routine because of that but at the end of the day it is an honour to be invited to compete in a race of this nature and she deserves a crack at it.” Appleton said.
“The way that it falls allows me to fly over for the Zoom Top and then come back and give her a little freshen up before aiming up at the Group 1 Galaxy series at Cannington in March.” Appleton added.
“She seems to have matured into the complete package in recent times. She is beginning beautifully but still reeling off excellent run home splits.” the proud Trainer commented.
The final field for the Zoom Top will be announced this Saturday night and the early invitees include gun Victorians Tornado Tears and Rippin’ Sam who have both been sidelined with injuries of late as well as star NSW stayer Poco Dorado and the talented Queenslander Double Gee.
The exact make-up of the field and box draw will have a huge bearing on the prospects of Moment To Jive but in her current vein of form she is sure to be one of the key fancies heading into the rich event.
Moment To Jive will first compete in a Free To All over the 715 metres at Cannington this Saturday night where she has drawn favourably in box one.
“First things first we need her to get around safely and race well on Saturday but assuming that all goes to plan she will fly out late next week for a tilt at Group 1 glory.” Appleton said.
“She has been over to Victoria a couple of times in the past for extended periods. This time around we will make it a hit and run mission and hopefully it pays dividends.” Appleton concluded.
