Noske Keen On Race Return

Thoroughbred
Heavyweight jockey Jarrad Noske will make his return to city racing at Belmont on Saturday.
The dual Perth Cup-winning hoop hasn’t ridden at metropolitan level since riding a winning double from two rides at Belmont on June 9 and embarking on a break from racing shortly after.
Noske’s only race-ride since then came whilst holidaying in Broome and finishing second aboard 61kg top-weight, Desert Thorn, on August 4.
He’ll partner the Chris Gangemi-trained Lockroy (60kg) at Belmont on Saturday and is looking forward to being back in the saddle.
“I’m keen as mustard,” he said.
“I’ve been riding trackwork for the last three weeks and rode Lockroy this morning.
“He felt awesome.”
Noske is expecting a forward showing from the More Than Ready seven-year-old, who hasn’t raced since finishing third to Belter on April 28.
Lockroy was a dominant winner of the Batavia Sprint at Geraldton at his start prior.
“He’s going really well,” he said.
“He might be a bit underdone because he was going to trial on Monday instead but he looks the best horse in that race.”
Noske has been working closely with his trainer-father, Jeff, since returning to Perth.
He hasn’t ruled out the possibility of applying for a dual jockey-trainer licence in the future.
“Financially, it’s not the right time at the moment,” he said.
“But I definitely will later down the track.”
Noske said the family’s stable star, Salorsci, is set to make his return at Belmont trials on Monday.
The Discorsi four-year-old showed great potential with wins at five of his first six race starts before being plagued by hoof issues.
“He’s had a trouble-free prep this time in,” he said.
“We’ll just try and focus on some easier races.
“There’s a 1000m race for him 12 days after his trial that he can start in, all things going well.
“He’ll get 57.5kg in that so I’m going to try and get my weight down for it.”
Noske hopes to take race rides from 58kg next week.
