Racing and Wagering WA Supports Team Teal
10 January, 2019
From between 1 February and 10 March 2019 Racing and Wagering WA (RWWA), through Community TAB, will donate $200 to the Womens Cancer Foundation each time a race is won by a WA Team Teal driver.
The Team Teal campaign raises funds and awareness for the Womens Cancer Foundation which supports the Australia New Zealand Gynaecological Oncology Group.
To support the campaign seven female drivers from WA will wear teal pants while they race throughout the campaign period.
RWWA General Manager Racing, Charlotte Mills said the organisation is proud to support the campaign.
“2019 will be the third year that RWWA has supported the Team Teal campaign as we recognise the importance in raising awareness for a cause such as the Womens Cancer Foundation,” Mrs Mills said.
“It is great to see so many of our female harness drivers take part in the campaign, give back to the community and wear the teal pants with pride.
“Not only does this campaign raise awareness and funds for the Foundation, it also allows RWWA and other racing bodies in Australia to reinforce our support of women in the community as well as women in the racing industry.”
Last year 24 races were won by Team Teal drivers resulting in $4800 donated by Community TAB to the campaign.
The campaign is a nation-wide initiative supported by harness racing controlling bodies, harness racing clubs and sponsors.
Last year over 240 female drivers across Australia and New Zealand wore Teal Pants during the campaign raising approximately $200,000 for the Women’s Cancer Foundation.
