RIDING FOR THE DISABLED STATE GAMES RETURNS TO PINJARRA
3 September, 2018
Young riders with disabilities from all over the state will return to Pinjarra for the Riding for the Disabled Association WA (RDAWA) 2018 Community TAB State Games on Saturday 8 September.
The Community TAB State Games provide an opportunity for RDAWA riders with disabilities to come together and compete in a friendly mounted games competition, encouraging participants to demonstrate their abilities and skills whilst allowing them the opportunity to showcase their achievements to family and friends.
Community TAB is an ongoing sponsor of RDAWA and a naming rights sponsor of the State Games for a fourth year in a row.
RDAWA Executive Officer Kelly Mansfield said the State Games are a major highlight of the year for their riders.
“The State Games bring so much joy to the riders and it’s a great fun day out for all the family including the mounted fancy dress competition where riders, parents and volunteers get to create costumes for both the horse and rider,” Ms Mansfield said.
“With over 1000 riders of all different ages and disabilities attending RDAWA centres around WA, this is the one annual event where everyone comes together to show the improvements they have made not only as a rider, but also in their daily lives.”
Racing and Wagering WA (RWWA) CEO Richard Burt said the partnership with RDAWA is very close to the hearts of all staff at RWWA and the Community TAB.
“Our staff thoroughly enjoy volunteering at the State Games and they have grown to genuinely appreciate the organisation and the people involved in recent years,” Mr Burt said.
“This year we will have RWWA employees volunteering their time to help set up for the Games in the week leading up to the event, and also volunteering on the day of the Games.
“We are proud to be associated with RDAWA and we will continue to help them with the upkeep and welfare of
RDAWA horses and general maintenance of the state organisation through our contribution.”
The RDAWA 2018 Community TAB State Games is a family friendly event held at the Murray Mandurah Centre which is situated within the grounds of Fairbridge Village, Pinjarra.
RDAWA is a charitable organisation that combines the transformative power and the therapeutic effects of horse riding in the provision of equestrian activities which provides neuromuscular stimulation similar to that of a human thus promoting improved strength, balance, coordination, flexibility and confidence.
There are RDAWA centres all over the State including, Albany, Denmark, Collie, Carine, Hills, Pinjarra, Peel, South West, Swan Valley, Mid-West, Mandurah and Oakford.
