Stuart with a strong hand
Trainer Paul Stuart looks set for a good night at the office at Cannington on Saturday night with a string of his topliners well placed in their respective races.
Up and coming youngster Mikey’s Rant produced a career best performance last week and he looks a strong chance in race 7 a heat of the WA Derby.
“His run last week was huge.” Stuart said.
“He is still learning how to race but his run home time was first class and he is improving every time he goes to the track.”
“His lack of early pace is a bit if a concern but with clear running he should be mowing them down late” Stuart added.
In the same heat Stuart has been hosting New South Wales youngster Rockstar Beav for Trainer Chris Nutt.
“Rockstar Beav had no luck at his first look at the track last week when he was cleaned up early.” Stuart said.
“His wins in Sydney have shown that he is a fast dog with a clear run and he looms as a big threat in the race.” Stuart suggested.
In The Free For All over 520 metres Stuart will have promising sprinter Cropduster resuming from a 6 month break.
“It’s been a frustrating six months with her – she had issues with a stopper tendon and then came in season so I’ve had to be very patient” Stuart said.
“She has been trialling pretty close to what she was prior to going for her break and I’ve put plenty of work into her so I am expecting her to run well.” Stuart commented.
The Galaxy winner Rockstar Patriot has drawn box one in the Free For All over the 715 metres early in the program.
“I thought his run last week was very good and he will enjoy being drawn in the red.” Stuart said.
“Reidy’s Runner is airborne at the moment and it is clearly going to be hard to beat but Rockstar Patriot loves the fence and should run a really good race.” Stuart added.
Later in the program Stuart will have Eighty Eight and Paganoni engaged in the Grade 5 event over 600 metres.
“Eighty Eight is in a really good space at the moment and his effort to win a Free For All over 520 metres last week was awesome.” Stuart said.
“The step up to 600 metres looks nice for him and he should be right in the finish.” Stuart commented.
“Paganoni is probably going to need a little bit of luck to get over from box 7 but she has a massive engine and it just comes down to where she gets to early.” Stuart added.
On Friday night at Mandurah Stuart’s sole representative will be Love Me Tinder who is resuming from a freshen up in a mixed grade 4/5 over 405 metres.
“After his Perth Cup campaign I thought he looked like he needed a little freshen up so I’ve given him a break and he looks primed to go for Friday.” Stuart said.
“He has been trialling really well and with a safe getaway he will be very hard to catch.” Stuart concluded.
