Harness update Race 5 Gloucester Park
Racing and Wagering Western Australia’s (RWWA) harness stewards have opened and adjourned an inquiry as a result of SUNROSE VILLAGE (Vance Stampalia) falling in the home straight in the run to the finish in Race 5 at Gloucester Park, on 2 April 2019.
A number of runners were affected with drivers Vance Stampalia, Chris Voak (LIGHTNING JOLT), Robbie Williams (DAME PUISSANT NZ), Shannon Suvaljko (THREE KINGS NZ) and Michael Grantham (THE STORM CHIEF) all being dislodged from the sulky.
Mr Stampalia, Mr Voak and Mr Williams were treated on track by St John Ambulance paramedics prior to being transported to Royal Perth Hospital for further assessment.
Mr Voak and Mr Stampalia were released from hospital last evening with general soreness. Mr Williams currently remains in hospital and is undergoing further examination after experiencing lower back and hip pain and remains under observation after being severely concussed.
SUNROSE VILLAGE and DAME PUISSANT were examined by the oncourse veterinary surgeon post race and received treatment for minor injuries. THE STORM CHIEF, which galloped driverless prior to being captured was also examined with no abnormalities found.
