Stewards’ Inquiry – Harness
22 July, 2009
Harness
RWWA Stewards today concluded an inquiry following a complaint lodged by disqualified stablehand Mr Travis Nolan. The alleged complaint was that a RWWA Steward had made an inappropriate remark to Mr Nolan.
The complaint occurred on 6 October 2008 when RWWA Stewards and Investigators visited the training establishment of Trainer Mr K. Nolan to conduct a stable inspection in regards to the elevated level of TCO2 returned by OUR WHIMAWAY prior to it competing and finishing unplaced in Race 6 the Dr Pat Cranley Memorial (1730m) on Friday, 3 October 2008 at Gloucester Park. At a subsequent Stewards inquiry into this matter stablehand Travis Nolan was disqualified for a period of twelve (12) months for presenting OUR WHIMAWAY to race with an elevated level of TCO2.
The Stewards inquiry today was the final hearing of three previous sittings. At a previous hearing, disqualified stablehand Mr Travis Nolan had been found guilty under HR248 for making a malicious statement against a RWWA Steward.
After considering all relevant matters in relation to penalty Stewards disqualified Mr Travis Nolan for a period of eighteen (18) months. Stewards ruled that five (5) months of this penalty is to run concurrent with Mr Nolan’s existing twelve (12) month disqualification and consequently Mr Nolan’s disqualification for this matter will expire at midnight on 21 January 2011.
