RWWA Stewards today inquired into a report received from the ChemCentre in Perth, that arsenic in excess of the threshold of 0.3 mg/L in urine has been detected in the post-race urine sample taken from DUST ME OFF at Ascot on 5 December 2015 after it had competed and won in Race 5.
This finding was verified by the Racing Analytical Services Limited Laboratory (RASL) in Victoria.
Evidence was taken from the Trainer of DUST ME OFF Mr Paul Tapper, Dr Judith Medd RWWA Industry Veterinarian, Mr Charles Russo Chem Centre Analyst, and Mr Paul Criddle Senior Investigative Steward.
Mr Tapper was charged under the provisions of ARR.178 for bringing DUST ME OFF to Ascot Racecourse to compete in the above race with the prohibited substance arsenic being detected in the post-race urine sample taken from the gelding.
After entering a not guilty plea, Mr Tapper requested and was subsequently granted an adjournment to a time and date to be fixed to allow him to present further evidence in defence of the charge.
