Trials Held at the Lark Hill Training Complex on Tuesday, 8 March 2016
RWWA Stewards today finalised their deliberations in regard to penalty following Jockey Duncan Miller being found guilty to a charge under AR.81A(1)(a) for providing a urine sample on Tuesday, 8 March 2016 when riding in trials at the Lark Hill Training Complex which upon analysis was found to contain cannabinoids which is a banned substance under the provisions of AR.81B.
Mr Miller subsequently had his Jockey’s licence suspended in full for a period of nine (9) months with the penalty being backdated to 21 March 2016, being the date he was initially stood down pending the outcome of the inquiry.
In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account the following factors
- The seriousness of the offence;
- That Mr Miller has a prior offence under the same rule and to the same banned substance from the Lark Hill Trials on 18 March 2013;
- His personal circumstances
