RWWA Stewards today conducted an inquiry into a report received from the ChemCentre (Perth) that the banned substance 11-Nor-delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol—9-carboxylic acid (cannabinoids) was detected in the urine sample taken from Jockey Duncan Miller at the trials held at the Lark Hill Training Complex on Tuesday, 8 March 2016.
The finding was subsequently confirmed by Racing Analytical Services Limited (RASL) in Melbourne.
Evidence was taken from Jockey Duncan Miller, RWWA Medical Advisor Dr. Peter Cummins and ChemCentre Analysts Mr C Russo and Ms M Raghvani.
Mr Miller was subsequently found guilty to a charge under AR.81A(1)(a) for providing a urine sample on the above date which upon analysis was found to contain cannabinoids which is a banned substance under the provisions of AR.81B.
After hearing submissions from Mr Miller, the inquiry was adjourned to allow Stewards to consider the matter of penalty.
