08 February 2011 'Westspeed Extra' to increase prime bonuses by 50%

Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) today announced the introduction of an exciting enhancement to the very successful Westspeed Owner and Breeder Incentive Scheme to be known as 'Westspeed Extra'.

For yearlings foaled in the 2009 breeding season, Owners will be given the option of paying an additional nomination fee of $1,100 (including GST) to increase the Westpeed owners bonus payable at all prime metropolitan wins from $15,000 to $22,500. This represents a 50% increase in the prime bonus currently payable under the scheme.

Importantly, Westspeed Extra will be available to owners purchasing yearlings through the Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sales that commence at Belmont Park tomorrow evening.

Owners of yearlings nominated for Westspeed Extra will pay a total nomination fee of $2,200, inclusive of the usual Westspeed nomination fee of $1,100.

All other aspects of the scheme remain unchanged and owners may of course elect to pay the current Westspeed nomination fee of $1,100 (including GST) only to continue to be eligible for the current bonus level of $15,000 for prime metropolitan wins.

RWWA Chief Executive Richard Burt said “Westspeed Extra will provide the owner of a Westspeed eligible horse the opportunity to race for prize money, including Westspeed bonus, of $51,750 in each open 2yo and 3yo event throughout that horse?s career”.

Westspeed Administrator John Doherty will be available at the Belmont Park sales complex this week to answer queries in respect to Westspeed Extra or any other aspects of the scheme.

The Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sales will be conducted at Belmont Park racecourse and run through until Sunday.
