Public Promoters for Syndication of Horses

Public Syndication

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has strict requirements regarding the public syndication of racehorses. Prior to offering individual shares in racehorse syndicates/partnerships, promoters of such must be approved by RWWA and recorded on the Register of Approved Promoters. They must also be the holder of an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) issued by ASIC. The AFSL number must be quoted in all advertisements.

NOTICE TO PROSPECTIVE OWNERS "APPROVED PROMOTERS"

The following named persons are the only persons approved by RWWA and licensed by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) to promote ownership shares in horse racing schemes.
Prospective owners should be mindful that any person promoting shares in a racehorse must hold a current Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) with the *conditions shown below.

Australian Financial Services Licence *Conditions

  1. This licence authorises the licensee to carry on a financial services business to:
    • provide financial product advice for the following classes of financial products:
      • interests in managed investment schemes limited to:
        • horse racing schemes only; and
    • deal in a financial product by:
      • issuing, applying for, acquiring, varying or disposing of a financial product in respect of the following classes of financial products:
        • interests in managed investment schemes limited to:
          1. horse racing schemes only; to retail clients.

To be an Approved Promoter, applicants must be able to demonstrate that they possess practical experience in the racing industry and possess a sound knowledge of their obligations under the Law.

Application for an AFSL may be obtained from ASIC Licensing Department on 1300 300 630.
