Thoroughbred – Stewards Inquiry Trainer Ms T Robertson 21 09 2018
Thoroughbred Stewards Inquiry – Trainer Miss Tiarnna Robertson – FALSE STATEMENT
RWWA Stewards today concluded the inquiry into a report confirming the detection of the prohibited substance clenbuterol in the post-race sample taken from FALSE STATEMENT after it won Race 1, the TABtouch Maiden over 1000m at Belmont on 27 June 2018.
Stewards received a report from the ChemCentre in Perth that clenbuterol was detected in the post-race sample; the finding was verified by Racing Analytical Services Ltd (Vic).
Evidence was taken from Miss Tiarnna Robertson, RWWA Veterinarian Dr. J Medd and ChemCentre Analyst Ms. M Raghvani.
Miss Robertson pleaded guilty to the following two charges:
Charge 1-ARR 178, which states:
Subject to AR.177C, when any horse that has been brought to a racecourse for the purpose of engaging in a race and a prohibited substance is detected in any sample taken from it prior to or following its running in any race, the trainer and any other person who was in charge of such horse at any relevant time may be penalised.
Miss Robertson brought FALSE STATEMENT to start in the above race with the prohibited substance clenbuterol being detected in the urine sample taken from it following the race. Miss Robertson was subsequently fined the sum of $5000. In considering penalty stewards took into account her unblemished record, plea of guilt, forthright manner throughout the inquiry, and the nature of the substance detected.
Charge 2-ARR 178F, which states:
(1) A trainer must record treatment and medication administered to each horse in his or her care by midnight on the day on which the administration was given, and each record must include the following information:
(a) the name of the horse;
(b) the date and time of administration of the treatment or medication;
(c) the name of the treatment or medication administered (brand name or active constituent);
(d) the route of administration including by injection, stomach tube, paste, topical application or inhalation);
(e) the amount of medication given (if applicable);
(f) the duration of a treatment (if applicable);
(g) the name and signature of person or persons administering and/or authorizing the administration of the treatment or medication.
Miss Robertson failed to record the administration of clenbuterol to FALSE STATEMENT prior to it competing in the above race and Miss Robertson was subsequently fined the sum of $500.
Further, acting under the provisions of ARR 177, FALSE STATEMENT was disqualified from the race in question and the Stewards directed that the placings be amended accordingly with commensurate implications for all stake money.
