Community TAB of Racing and Wagering WA (RWWA) has awarded Bunbury Junior Football Club a $4000 sports grant.
The junior football club was one of two sporting clubs to receive a grant recently, selected from over 400 sporting clubs that have applied from around WA.
Jarrad Zanich from Bunbury Junior Football Club said the generous support from Community TAB enables the club to keep costs down and ensure grassroots football remains affordable for all families.
“Bunbury Football Club has a very close working relationship with key stakeholders including Auskick, Junior members, Senior members and supporters, and it is this support which helps deliver a great family friendly environment,” Mr Zanich said.
“Being awarded this grant from Community TAB allows us to contribute to the installation of solar power and purchase a battery for Payne Park.
“Regular involvement in sport benefits the wider community and individuals alike by contributing to a range of positive outcomes including encouraging teamwork and facilitating more people to participate as volunteers within the community which improves the well-being.
“Sporting clubs are a hub for community life, especially in regional centres, and it is our responsibility to take the lead in building self-esteem and confidence while also encouraging healthy living habits.”
RWWA CEO Richard Burt said the organisation recognises the importance of grass roots sports throughout WA.
“We understand that it takes time and resources to keep a club running within the community, so we are pleased to be giving the opportunity to help relieve this burden on clubs,” Mr Burt said.
Community TAB will provide at least one grant each month to a sporting club to further their contribution to the sport and recreation industry in WA. Once a club applies for a grant, the application will stay within the pool until the grant is awarded.
