Gosnells City Football Club Awarded Community TAB Sports Grant
28 February, 2018
Community TAB of Racing and Wagering WA (RWWA) has awarded Gosnells City Football Club a $4000 grant as one of the first sporting clubs to receive a grant after the program was launched in November.
Out of over 100 sporting clubs from around WA who applied for a grant from Community TAB, Gosnells City Football Club is one of two groups to receive a grant this month.
Club Deputy President Ossie Pereira who applied for the grant on behalf of the club said their Club and Committee are very grateful to RWWA and Community TAB for approving this grant.
“It means our Club now has the ability to purchase quality sports equipment that will benefit the development of our young boys and girls, and help them reach their full potential playing this wonderful game,” Mr Pereira said.
“Our Club’s continued aim is to promote the game of Football in the community, whilst encouraging our players, coaches and parents to develop an appreciation and enjoyment of the game and its skills. Our Club is run by volunteers and our goal is to bring the beautiful game of Football to all children and adults, so that no matter what their ability, every child and adult will have the opportunity to play this sport.
“This grant will enable our Club to bring communities together by being able to schedule more boys and girls team training and matches, thus improving access to the World Game for the whole community, which will encourage more activity, exercise and participation for local people and sports fans and it will encourage more people to participate in sport with family and friends.”
RWWA Chief Executive Officer Richard Burt said it is an exciting new initiative for Community TAB and a great opportunity for sporting clubs.
“We recognise the importance of grass roots sport throughout WA and understand that it takes time and resources to keep a club running within the community, so we are excited to be giving the opportunity to help relieve this burden on clubs,” Mr Burt said.
“RWWA has been supporting the WA sport and recreation industry for many years through providing over $30million of TAB turnover over 10 years to the Department of Sport and Recreation (DSR) and more recently through Community TAB sponsoring the WA Football League and WA Integrated Football Program.
“Community TAB has been giving back to the WA community since 2014 through major partnerships, state-wide fundraising programs and sponsorship of prestigious events.”
Community TAB will provide at least one grant each month to a sporting club to further their contribution to the sport and recreation industry in WA.
Once a club applies for a grant, the application will stay within the pool until the grant is awarded.
