Karratha Junior Rugby League awarded Community TAB Sports Grant
25 March, 2019
Community TAB of Racing and Wagering WA (RWWA) has awarded Karratha Junior Rugby League a $2000 sports grant.
Karratha Junior Rugby League (KJRL) was one of four sporting clubs to receive a grant recently, selected from over 400 sporting clubs that have applied from around WA.
Sian Rolle from KJRL said the grant will enable the club to offer education for volunteers and new equipment to provide greater opportunities for members.
“KJRL aims to provide opportunities for children aged four and up to 18 years the chance to play, develop and learn about the game of Rugby League in the Pilbara Region”. Ms Rolle said.
”We also aim to incorporate and develop a diverse sporting culture in the City of Karratha by engaging children in the sport of Rugby League.”
“We are still a relatively new sporting group, having made the decision in 2016 to amalgamate with the junior clubs to enable us to grow the sport through creating a local Association.
“In order to further grow the sport, and to continue with the professionalism which has come to be expected of KJRL, funding is imperative in assisting us in growing participation numbers and being able to support grassroots junior rugby in the Pilbara.”
RWWA CEO Richard Burt said the organisation recognises the importance of grassroots sports throughout WA.
“We understand that it takes time and resources to keep a club running within the community, so we are pleased to be giving the opportunity to help relieve this burden on clubs,” Mr Burt said.
Community TAB will provide at least one grant each month to a sporting club to further their contribution to the sport and recreation industry in WA. Once a club applies for a grant, the application will stay within the pool until the grant is awarded.
Sporting clubs can apply for a grant at communitytab.com.au. Terms and Conditions apply.
