Samantha O’Neill was the lucky winner of the Great Southern Regional Heat, followed by Ainslie Jackson as first runner up and Lee Mills as second runner up.
Ms O’Neill will now go on to compete in the WA Country Cups Fashions on the Field Final to be held at Perth Racing in December.
The winner of the Final will receive a trip for two to London to attend Royal Ascot with Motive Travel, $10,000 spending money thanks to TABtouch, and more!
WA Country Cups caught up with Ms O’Neill to talk about country racing and racing fashion, as well as the upcoming Final, here is what she had to say:
1. What do you love about country racing? The atmosphere, it is always such a fantastic day out filled with fun, excitement and amazing fashions
2. How long have you been going to the races for and what are your favourite memories? About 10years! My favourite memory would be attending the Melbourne Cup Carnival in 2014 with a friend it was absolutely phenomenal, the fashion, the intensity, the ambiance. It was unlike anything I could have ever imagined.
3. Why do you enter Fashions on the Field? I enter for the love of fashion! I love designing and constructing my outfits and watching them come together. Being able to wear them at country racing events is a thrilling experience.
4. Describe your style? It would be a cross between classic and modern. I always like to wear fuller traditional outfits with more modern millinery and accessories.
5. What tips do you have for ladies entering Fashions on the Field? Be comfortable with what you wear, express yourself and just to have fun with it!
6. What are some of your favourite things about the Great Southern Region? There are so many wonderful things about the Great Southern. There is amazing beaches, amazing shops and local businesses and fantastic places to eat! From the Stirling Ranges to the white sandy beaches there is always something to do and an awe inspiring surrounds to experience.
7. What does it mean to you to be going to Ascot to compete in the final? It is a surreal feeling to be going to Ascot for the final and I am proud and honoured to be representing the Great Southern Region. It will be a great weekend celebrating country racing and fashions
About the WA Country Cups Fashions on the Field
The WA Country Cups Fashions on the Field is a state-wide racing fashion competition, open to fashionistas from all over WA, and consists of nine regional heats held at major country race meetings across the State.
The winner of each regional heat is invited to compete in the WA Country Cups Fashions on the Field Final to be held at Ascot Racecourse in December 2018.
