WA Country Cups caught up with Ms Alman to talk about country racing and racing fashion, as well as the upcoming Final, here is what she had to say:
1. What do you love about country racing? The relaxed, friendly atmosphere and being able to support local trainers and racing talent.
2. How long have you been going to the races for and what are your favourite memories? About 15 years. My favourite memories include creating an outfit for the major race days with my best friend every year, getting to spend time with her and other friend’s trackside, having a laugh and a punt. Another memory that will stand out beside my unexpected win at FOTF, is having outstanding luck with a well-paid mystery trifecta in 2016 at Hannan’s Handicap.
3. Why do you enter Fashions on the Field? After attending and watching the Fashions on the Field event for so long I finally built up the courage to get up and give it a go – to tick it off the list.
4. Describe your style? Modern and structured with feminine touches.
5. What tips do you have for ladies entering Fashions on the Field? Ensure every element of your outfit is cohesive but have one ‘hero’ piece, eg. your Millinery. Another would be to check the race fashion guidelines – there is a huge network for race day fashion across the country.
6. What are some of your favourite things about the Goldfields Region? The friendly, down to earth people and ever evolving social, art and hospitality scenes.
7. What does it mean to you to be going to Ascot to compete in the final? It’s still a surreal feeling but I’m so grateful to be representing the Goldfields especially as a born and raised local.
